Words Will Never Hurt Me: Original Ending

Obi-Wan picked up his lightsabre and pressed the blade end over his heart. He thumbed the switch.

His body slowly crumpled forward until his head rested on the grass. The perfect pose of supplication.

Qui-Gon could feel the heat as he stared into the flames consuming his Padawan's body.

He kept replaying his last conversations with Obi-Wan. They had been arguing. A stupid, senseless argument would be his last memory of this talented man. All because he was a stubborn old man.

The pain of the bond breaking in death echoed through him. It had driven him to his knees and made him cry out with the loss. He would never forget it.

He was grateful that the Queen had allowed him to return to Coruscant and another team to take his place.

He glanced down at Anakin on his left. He could not train him now. Not after losing two Padawans in these manners. He could not do that to another promising child.

"Why?" Bant's voice came from his right. "Why did he do it, Master Qui-Gon? He always seemed so happy."
