In memories of sweet unchained passion
I lie enfolded in your arms, safe, protected -
Your death the one and only lesson I was not,
Could not be prepared for - so unexpected.
I dreaded this one moment more each day,
Sought to keep my unease from your mind
But you knew, you felt my pain, no need to
Say a word to you, you always felt it, loved
Me pure and true to your last breath.
I gave my heart and soul away; years ago
It seems, yet merely the last moments of our
Love are as vivid in my mind as all the feelings
That so haunt my sleepless nights that I cry
And break from grief so rare I cannot bear
To find the cause in the empty space at my side
And in my mind and soul - I know what you
Would tell me now - live in the moment -
Accept the pain and let it go - I do my best -
But that is not enough.
