"And what did you tell him?" Qui-Gon sat on the sofa, while Obi-Wan was by his knees on the floor.

"I said, 'The Force controls your actions, and it also obeys your commands.' Aryn is a curious youngling. He might grow into a Jedi philosopher someday."

"He might." Qui-Gon agreed. They sat in silence for a while, enjoying each other's company after a day spent apart. "And he might find this particular subject gratifying to explore," the older Jedi continued contemplatively. "What is our relation to the Force? We are not its superiors, nor are we its servants. And it's important for a Jedi to find the balance point, which also defines our roles in the galaxy. Our work often requires demanding obedience from other people, and our power and knowledge make it possible. That is why our only purpose should be to serve these people. A Jedi is always ready to take control, just as he's always ready to relinquish it."

"Yes, Master."

The older man gave into temptation finally and raised his hand to touch the russet hair so close to him. His reward was not only the exquisite sensation of spiky softness beneath his fingers, but also a flicker of pleasure through the bond.

After a few more minutes of silence, Obi-Wan said, "Ah, yes. I see it, Qui." The Padawan turned to him, and Qui-Gon could see the corners of his lips quirking up. "And I know why they call you a Jedi Master." Obi-Wan paused for effect. "You are so good when you take the initiative," he placed his hands on Qui-Gon's knees, "that I was amazed when I discovered just how good you are when you give it to me." The younger man had a broad grin now.

Qui-Gon laughed. "Exactly, Obi-Wan! It's not for nothing that I have decades of Jedi training behind me." He welcomed his lover onto the sofa. "And I'm always willing to try any position with you, my irresistible force," he said, just before he felt Obi-Wan's hands slipping into his long hair.

The End.
