A single step. That is what separates me from them. One desperate leap would have seen me though the final barrier and at his side where together we would have beaten the Sith. Instead I am now forced to wait here, agonizing, contemplating throwing myself through the laser barrier to get to him.

The hatred flows from the dark lord like a wave, threatening to obliterate everything in its path. There are only my Master and myself to stand against it. Correction - right now there is only my Master. I am trapped here like a taskan in a chepak hole.

Be strong Master, I will be there soon.

Nervous energy crashes through me and I fight the desire to pace . Be still, Obi-Wan. The memory of the many times I have heard my Master speak these words fills me, aiding in my quest for serenity. It is a long search but finally I find the quiet place inside and center myself there. Now is not the time for rash and impulsive actions.

He has the Sith down! I reach out to him, pride, love, and support filling my thoughts. Though my Master was showing signs of tiring, he attacks again as if revitalized and I can only hope my sending has had some small part in that.

They are locked together, sparks flaring from their crossed sabers, their faces separated by less than a handspan. Finish him Master. Let us be done with this.

Stunned disbelief crashes around me, our link snapping fully open as the knowledge of who our enemy is flows through me. No, it cannot be. He is dead, killed by my own hand on Qular'eh almost six years ago.

My head snaps back as the solid blow from the hilt of the Sith's laser sword connects with my Master's chin. Look out! . . . All feeling leaves me as the full length of the red-beamed lightsaber pierces my Master's body and he slumps to the floor.

"Noooooooooo!!"

My agonized scream echoes through the confines of my prison and the dark lord turns, satisfaction and anticipation easily readable even through the tattoos that cover his face. As he moves closer I see the brand and wonder how we missed it before.

Small muscles twitch in my cheek as I fight the desire to look at my Master. He is still alive though I can feel the Force fading within him. If only I had made it through the last barrier, if only the Sith was not there. My only hope - our only hope - is to end this fight quickly. There are medical facilities here and I will not lose him.

The servos hum and my lightsaber flashes to life. You will die now Xanatos, it ends here. This I promise you.
