Your eyes, soft and deep like autumn mornings
Glowing fresh and blue; the veils of mist just
Lifted - as you smiled at me. Your hand, a loving
Token of your trust, rests on my cheek, so tenderly -
A moment stretched out for eternity, a longing
Laden with the musk of night, approaching
Ends and dark desires.

I hold you, seek to touch your heart and find it cold,
Enamoured of a truer love than mine - an embrace
Stronger than my soul and so you go - you leave me,
Following your path to its conclusion, welcoming death
As you once welcomed me. I break, this precious
Look you only had for me - ripped away, stolen
By the treacherous dark - I let you slip away -
No strength to keep you, none to stay myself.

I carry you from your last battle, I close the
Eyes that were my light and feel the grief
That burns itself into my being, forever part of
Me now as you are - I'll fight those battles
You will never face - and live, for you.
My love.
