"Maybe"

Bear me no ill will, I cannot love you as you
want me to, can you not see that I am breaking,
like a leaf I am shaking, not ripe for the taking,
afraid of feelings I never knew
Dear I will hold you, cherished as friend,
but the bond you are seeking leaves me
scared, scarred and weeping,
hoping that maybe you'll understand
my fears and my longings that I keep holding;
this world to me is alien, your touch is like fire
burning the gossamer strings of trust
 but not lighting the torch of desire;
I seek two soul's union while you seek my flesh,
oh master I'd rather stay pure and unsure,
seeking my union with love stronger than death
Please don't, please don't touch me,
stay away please don't dirty me,
stay my friend please don't rape me
and maybe you think your love would save me
but maybe I just want to be free
of a hunger only you feel,
so please let me grow old
so you have a strong body to hold,
one that is not still growing, aware and knowing
that there are arms waiting
to keep it from breaking;
and maybe then you will save me
when I've learned to walk free
and maybe then I'll hold you
and maybe then I'll love you too.
