Summary: Thoughts on Qui-Gon from Obi-Wan's perspective. For the "Storms and Fury" Series.

Feedback: Gratefully accepted, thoughtfully considered, thanked-for profusely, and saved for later gloating.

Disclaimer: All hail the Great Prophet Lucas, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom filmed, thy will be done, on THX as it is in fandom. Give us this year our TPM, and forgive us our fanfic, for thine is the Empire, the Qui-Gon and the Obi-Wan forever, Amen.

I don't often do poetry. That said, I throw this to ye Rancors...

A thousand summer days
On a hundred different worlds
In rain and snow and desert heat
I followed you and listened
I watched eyes hard with hatred
Clear to understanding
Angry hearts and scheming minds
Turn to compromise
Oh yes
I remember

Dawn light picking out the silver in your hair
While burnishing the mahogany and bronze
As you knelt on marble floors
The rustle of Jedi linen and wool
Among silk and satins and brocades
More regal in your heart-deep peace
Than the King of Alderaan on his throne
Hands of a healer, heart of a lion
Oh yes
I remember

How thousands of eyes followed you
Schemed against you, planned your death
Used you, used me against you, used us
For some bit of land or merchant's favor
While you refused to be their coin
Never defiant, just out of reach
Willing to pay the price always
If only to bring a day's peace
Oh yes
I remember

Emerald flash of light and Force
In battles always to defend
You were ever at my side
At the corner of my eye
Seven years of perfect harmony
How can I ever give this up?
The friend of my soul long before
Ever the solace of my body
Oh yes
I will always remember
