Summary: Obi-Wan finds it difficult to meditate - until his Master intervenes.

** indicates Qui-Gon's thoughts

* indicates Obi-Wan's thoughts

Feedback: Yes, please.

**Calm your mind, Obi-Wan.**

Kneeling in meditation, or rather, attempted meditation, Obi-Wan Kenobi couldn't help but smile slightly, sadly, at the remembered voice in his mind.

*Ah, if only it were that simple, Master. Without you here to guide me, it is more difficult.*

**I am always with you, my friend. Surely you know that.**

The young Knight's eyes flew open in surprise, and he glanced quickly around the room. Remembering Qui-Gon's voice was one thing. Hearing it answer a specific statement was another entirely.

He caught the impression of quiet laughter, definite amusement.

**Why are you surprised, Obi-Wan? Remember, there is no death, there is the Force.**

"But I..." Obi-Wan suddenly felt silly speaking out loud. *But...*

**But? I am here, in your mind, in your heart, as I have been and as I always will be. Close your eyes. Do you not feel me?**

Doing as he was told, Obi-Wan settled back into his meditative stance and closed his eyes. Opening his mind, he found himself enfolded and embraced by the presence of the man he had thought gone from him forever.

*Master Qui-Gon.*

**It is I, dear one, though no longer your Master. You have passed the tests, you are a Knight now. With a Padawan learner of your own. I thank you for that.**

Obi-Wan's initial flash of pride was quickly damped, though he sensed Qui-Gon's amusement anyway.

*You taught me well, Mas- Qui-Gon. And I promised you that I would train the boy. I...* He hesitated on his wording, but decided that his first choice was correct.

*I am afraid that I will not be able to train him properly, that he will move more quickly than I can, that I won't be able to stay ahead of his training.*

**As I feared with my first Padawan, and all Masters fear with theirs. You are ready, dear one. You have the knowledge, and the patience. You simply must remember that you do. And that I will be here with you.**

Qui-Gon's words immediately calmed Obi-Wan's anxiety, and he found himself finally able to pull his thoughts together, to order his mind once again. Through their link, he felt his old Master's quiet approval.

One thing remained to be said, one thing that he could not put to rest.

*I miss you.*

**And I miss you, love.**

Obi-Wan felt the fleeting touch of a hand on his shoulder, of lips brushing his, of a fingertip touching his chest, above his heart.

**But always remember, I am here.**
