Beloved Jedi

A long, long time ago
In a galaxy far away
You took me as your Padawan
I knew the one before had tried
And failed and gone to the Dark side
Leaving you alone to carry on.

I was about to lose my chances
My Jedi hopes would turn to ashes
My birthday soon was falling
And Agri-corp was calling

They shipped me off to the frontier
And promised me a new career
We both wound up on Bandomeer
That's where you claimed this boy.

(Chorus)
So, hi, hi my beloved Jedi
You have made me your apprentice
    I have found my ally
I'll make you proud, on me you can rely
I'll trust you 'til the day that I die
You can trust me 'til the day that you die.

Did you know your Padawan
Would make love to you from dusk 'til dawn
Even if the Code said "No"
Do you believe I could make you whole?
Can you can see this other half of your soul?
And can you teach me how to move real slow?

Well, I knew you were in love with me
And I had to try to make you see
Our lives we should bind
But yet still in your mind
I was a horny teenage Padawan
To young to know what was going on
I knew I had to prove you wrong
That I was not a boy

Oh my, my, oh, beloved Jedi
I finally showed you all my love -- you showed me yours in reply
I'll make you laugh, each night I'll make you sigh
I'll be with you 'til the day that I die
Together 'til the day that we die.

Now for twelve years I'd been at your side
And our bond at last was not denied
At least that's what I believed
Then we blasted off with the Naboo queen
And were forced to land on Tatooine
Where you found a boy you couldn't leave

You claimed that I could pass the Trials
Which would free you up to train the child
When the Council was adjourned
To Naboo we returned
But there Maul put out your vital spark
I held you, heard your last remarks
And I sang dirges to the Dark,
But vowed I'd train the boy.

So, bye, bye my beloved Jedi
Thought you'd be around forever, now I know that's a lie
I'll struggle through, although each night I cry
Sayin' "See you on the day that I die."
"Be with you on the day that I die."

Time went by - it seemed you were right
The boy grew up and became a Knight
He learned well and he learned fast
We won the war against the clones.
With his Queen beside him, he was not alone.
And I thought the worst was all past

But the Sith Lord whispered in his ear
While planting seeds of doubt and fear
It overwhelmed his pride
When he saw me with his bride
To his once warm heart I appealed
But his new-found rage refused to yield
Thus, the Sith to the Jedi was revealed
And fought within the boy

Oh, Qui, Qui, my beloved Jedi
I can sense the dark descending but I still don't know why
He's run away, I don't know what he will try
Send me wisdom, or I fear he will die
Help me. I'm afraid we'll all die.

I tracked him to that evil place
Before the Dark he could embrace.
Hoping we could start again.
But the Sith was clever, he was smart
His words had ripped out Ani's heart
And Ani thought the Dark his only friend

And as I watched him on the stage
His hands were clenched in fists of rage
I couldn't move or yell
To break that Sith Lord's spell
And as the flames climbed higher into the night
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw Sideous laughing with delight.
As the Dark Side claimed the boy.

So, bye bye my beloved Jedi
If you'd known how I would fail you, would you've asked me to try?
Darth Vader is born and now each night I cry
"Please, forgive me on the day that I die"
"Don't shun me on the day that I die"

I went to the woman from Naboo
And I begged her for some happy news
"Hide them," was all that she could say.
I went back to Coruscant
Where I braved the mob's abuse and taunts
But the Council had all died or run away

And in the streets the Jedi screamed
The Republic fell, with all our dreams
The people's word was spoken
The Jedi order - broken
And now I'm back where it began
The others - gone to Alderaan
In this desert waste I'll wait and plan
And guard our hope - this boy.

So, bye bye my beloved Jedi
I will honor all your memories -- I will do, not try
The Jedi will return, on that you can rely.
Just be waiting on the day that I die
I'll see you all the day that I die.

(And now I'm singing) Oh, my, my, oh beloved Jedi
Knew you'd be waiting forever, knew it wasn't a lie
We won, I'm done and now I no longer cry
'Cause I'm with you, since the day that I died.
